Kennesaw State graduates nearly 5,000 in long-awaited ceremonies

More than 500 days since its last in-person Commencement exercise, Kennesaw State University saw the jubilant return of the time-honored tradition.

This month, nearly 5,000 graduates and their families returned to campus for the institution’s first in-person Commencement since December 2019 and the first outdoor exercises at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. The ceremonies signaled the beginning of a return to normalcy for Spring 2021 graduates and provided the class of 2020 a long-awaited second chance to revel in their milestones with loved ones.

In addition to the celebratory atmosphere, Kennesaw State’s Spring 2021 Commencement served as a showcase for the institution’s newest crop of alumni. Represented among the graduates were 92 countries and nearly every U.S. state, Washington, D.C., and a handful of U.S. territories. More than 3,200 graduates identified as first generation, and 142 were military veterans. Another 703 received the distinction of becoming a double or triple Owl, meaning they earned their second or third degree from KSU.
